R K Nature Cure Home, Coimbatore

Dr. R. Krishnaswamy Gounder was born on 15 September, 1907 to devout parents. He went on to become a proficient Tamil scholar and earned the title of “Pulavar” i.e. poet, early in his life. Blessed with an eager eye for everything around him and a thirst to better the life of people and society in general, he pioneered several innovations, like inventing Gobar Gas Plant to designing and developing charcoal gas plant to run buses and trucks during the Second World War to novel farming techniques.

Apart from farming, Dr. R. Krishnaswamy Gounder also rendered yeoman service to the farming community by way of establishing agricultural association, by way of publishing agricultural magazine, etc,.

When he was around 20 years old, he suffered from an acute stomach ailment for which modern medication gave him little relief. He then chanced upon a book, ”Key to Health”, by Mahatma Gandhi. The book emphasizes the importance of allowing nature to cure and heal the body’s ailments. He practiced the system and got a permanent relief from the problem. This experience made him a firm believer in the miraculous healing powers of Nature.

He firmly believed that this system can cure various diseases without any medicine and without any side effects, at an affordable cost than other system of medicines.

He wanted to establish a nature cure center in Coimbatore to share the benefit he derived out of nature cure to others. He also visited the nature cure center established by Mahatma Gandhi in Urlikanchan near Pune which reinforced his resolve to start a Nature Cure Centre. Then he started the center in a small way in a house near the present center on experimental basis in early 1979.

R K Nature Cure Home

On 4 March, 1984, R K Nature Cure Home was formally established, under the blessings of H.H. Swami Satchidananda Maharaj.

Today, almost three decades after it was founded, RK Nature Cure Home is emerging as one of the foremost centers for Naturopathy. His vision of offering quality care and enabling people to go back to their traditional roots of healing and curing is upheld by members of the founding family.

The extended Deluxe and Executive blocks of R.K. Nature Cure Home was inaugurated by His Holiness Sree Sakthi Amma, of the Narayani Peetam of Sreepuram, Vellore on the 24th Feb 2012.

Approach

Care and healing at R K Nature Cure Home is offered as an in-patient facility. For chronic conditions and specific ailments, patients are advised to stay for a particular period of time, so that proper cure can be effected. Since the premises of Naturopathy is built in a planned manner to offer all round care, the patient is subjected to a comprehensive mental, emotional, physiological and psychological assessment. Following the professional clinical evaluation, their treatment process will have a series of systematic detoxifying, healing, tonifying, reinforcing and rejuvenating modalities which are targeted to facilitate harmonious restoration of state of health.

Education, awareness and self-discipline are vital to ensure that natural healing takes effect on the system. Therefore, lot of emphasis is given to educate and counsel the patient about the consequences of unhealthy lifestyle and stress. This is done by taking patients through a counselling session about self-evaluation and self-control management. Once the patients complete their scheduled treatment plan, they are encouraged to adopt a systematic and regular follow-up regimen to ensure the prolonged effect of nature cure interventions.

The most critical component of natural cure is to re-establish the harmonious environment in the body to restore the natural healing capacity and improve the vitality. This is a gradual process which requires genuine conviction and discipline from the patient. Therefore, treatment can extend from one week to few months, depending on the person’s age / chronicity of the health issue.
